McCarthy & Stone offer 25 SSD events

Posted in All posts, Tech Tips and Top Websites

Britain’s largest retirement builders are running no less than 25 SSD events this year in: Northamptonshire, Coventry, Birmingham, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire, Cleveland, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Denbighshire, North Yorkshire, Dumfries & Galloway, Mid Lothian, East Lothian, Angus, Surrey, West Sussex, Oxfordshire, Kent, East Sussex, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Cornwall, Devon, Somerset. (Most are ‘private’ so you won’t find them on Find an Event above right, but there may be others listed in your area.)  DU would just like to say a big ‘thank you’ to them for being one of the rare corporate entities to catch hold of the idea that older people need support for becoming online citizens. This benefits older people not only because the might become online customers (important for Mc&S and everyone) but as people who need IT to help their everyday lives run more smoothly and enjoyably. Thanks Mc&S! Enjoy your Events.

    1. Dave Vallis Says:

The concept of the internet can appear quite intimidating to many older people..until they try it. The secret is to find simple ways for people to experience it and the SSD Events do just that, along of course with the benefit of a little friendly tuition to help people along the way.

Mccarthy & Stone are proud to join up with Digital Unite to help spread knowledge and the benefits of IT to older people.

    2. I was involved as a DU tutor yesterday at the McCarthy & Stone site in Coventry, Montes Court. We had a great time with 19 participants during the day, most of whom have never used a computer before. One lady mentioned that she was looking for a supplier of typewriter ribbons, and all the local suppliers could not help her. We showed her how to ‘surf the net’ and we found a supplier, complete with a freephone telephone number, and she went away very happy with the information she had found. She was also very impressed that it was so easy and fast to find the informaton she needed! Thanks to the staff for their great support and help when we had a few technical problems!
