Emma, MD of Digital Unite reporting here…
We’ve now counted and assimilated all the information from Silver Surfers’ Day 2009,and know who did what and when and how it went for all those great event holders and their visitors. The figures are inspiring (1,055 events were logged!) and the stories moving and hopeful. The report is a very interesting read, and there’s a summary which is easy to digest: choose your document according to your interest/stamina (you might even have been mentioned in the report, if only in a category of event holder). The Exec Summary, is here: SSD 09 Management Summary; the complete read is the Full Report, click here: Full Report .
If you want tangible evidence that thousands of local groups and organisations are doing their bit to get local older people online; if you want to celebrate the achievements of older beginners; if you want to read about the very best in partnership working – these documents have it all, and more besides.
Thanks to all of you who gave your support, time, energy to making SSD09 such a success in May this year. Next year’s SSD is May 21st, 2010 – you’ll be in good company if you get involved. Hope you enjoy the reports and as ever, at any time, comments and feedback most welcome.

Congratulations to Emma and the team on the continuing success of Silver Surfers Day from an old ex-Hairnetter.
I was doing my bit on SS day teaching a beautiful Thai girl how to buy and sell on EBay.
The experience I gained with Hairnet has stood me in good stead in the years since and I’m still called on frequently for help and advice.
With best wishes for the next SS Day.

Hello John, thanks for the support. Yes we were really proud of the SSD09 tally in terms of number of events, partnerships and also the really great, creative things folk got up to planning and running their events. Glad your digital mentoring is still going strong. For our more recent friends, DU was called Hairnet (6, 7) years ago. Cheers, Emma
